Kitimat Cross Country Ski Club was the original name.
The Club was Formed and Incorporated, October 1976

Club Logo ca1983

Early Nordic Skiers were members of the Alpine Club in Kitimat. They had a small ski hill behind the old hospital.
The club has constructed three different cross country skiing facilities since 1976. They developed 1.6 km of lit trails at the Kitimat Hirsch Creek Golf and Country Club Course, The south Hirsch Ski Trails located just outside of Kitimat, and then expanded later to 25km of trails at Onion Lake, which became the trail system used today.

Mar 2000 they held a contest to choose a more “Regional Name” for the Club.
To include more Volunteers, Members, and donations, from the Terrace/Thornhill area, not only did the location change from the Kitimat Golf Course, to strictly Onion Lake Trails, the name of the Club was changed to:
Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club

Name Change Officially changed Jan 23, 2001
