Field Marshal Julian Hedworth George Byng, 1st Viscount Byng of Vimy GCB GCMG MVO, Nickname “Bungo”
b- September 11, 1862, Wrotham Park, Hertsmere, Herfordshire, England
d- June 6, 1935 at his mansion called Thorpe Hall, Thorpe-le-Soken, Essex

He was a British Army officer who served as Governor General of Canada, 1921-1926, He was the 12th since Canadian Confederation. Son of the Earl of Strafford.
He led the Canadian victory in April 1917 at the historic Battle of Vimy Ridge during WWI

The picture above I believe this was taken on Railway Ave. looking west, CP Railroad is seen on the right with the open wire telephone line.
Possibly taken from White's Hotel. Leading the parade, the Local Scout troop. He was on a tour to the Mackenzie River when he stopped here.

He was supposed to arrive in Estevan Aug 29, 1925, via car, and leave on a special train. He was to drive from Regina, short visits at Milestone, and Weyburn, and other points on the Soo Line. After a visit at Estevan and a short car ride through the Coalfields, he returned to Regina on a special train on the Arcola Line.
The Estevan Great War Veteran's Association was the group responsible for inviting him.

Lord Byng also visited Taylorton and Estevan the same trip.
