P&H 9020 Dragline, Inside Views

View looking out the front of the cab
and up a bit above the window
is the closed-circuit TV's (6)
to watch all sides of the machine,
including inside you can see a crane in the distance
and just a little corner of the bucket
on the right side of the window.
This crane was being used to lift
the 4“ dragline and other parts
to repair the problem they had near the bucket.

Now that's a rear view mirror!
this picture shows the bucket in the distance a little clearer
also can see the truck we used to get there in the mirror!

Left Hand Control Panel

Here is my late brother Don, taking it for a spin around the pits!
Just kidding! We were supervised the whole tour,
so nothing bad would happen.
I would love to take it for a turn though, next time!
This is the control room of the 9020, couple joy sticks,
one is visible here on the right, and a couple foot pedals,
and you can put this machine anywhere it wants to go.
Just keep your toes away from
the under-carriage when it decides to walk.
I seen how flat the dirt was behind this thing and trust me,
that isn't a place for steel, never mind toes!

this machine has Computer-based Graphics User Interface
(GUI) control and Diagnostic system,
(touch screen on right with white border)
also has joystick controllers and back lit controls for night use
The cab is sound proof and air conditioned.
Behind the cab is the coffee room complete with fridge,
microwave oven, lockers, and dining area, for the crew,
all the comforts of home.

The white motor on the left is the walking motor
for the right side of this dragline.
It is one of 2, 1550 hp engines,
connected to a planetary transmission drive,
and then a final gear assembly,
it is connected to an eccentric cam
which is connected to one of the 2 walking shoes.
The machine “walks” in 7 1/2 ft steps (2.3 mtrs),
at a speed of 0.12mph or 0.19 kph
The motors on the right are the swing motors,
2 of 6 motors (1045 hp ea)

in bottom right, how big this guy was
Access to this was at the base of the house
thru many open areas cut into 1 inch steel plate steel,
like submarine hatches without doors.
