Built in 1943 in England, as HMS Sandgate Castle, then to the Royal Canadian Navy as RCN St. Thomas, K488
a Royal Canadian Navy Castle Class Corvette, purchased by Union Steamships Co. in 1945
entered service here in Dec 1946, after conversion to a Passenger/ Cargo Vessel at Burrard Dry Dock.
Length 252 ft., Beam 37 ft, speed 16.5 knots, 2750 HP, 1835 tons
In 1958 it was renamed Chilcotin II.
In 1958 it was sold to Chuck West's, Alaska Cruise Lines, and renamed the Yukon Star.
It carried 148 Cruise Passengers.
1974 it was towed to Seattle and scrapped.
